  • The Role
    This newly created role represents an excellent opportunity to advance your career and then further develop it by joining this expanding asset management house based in central Edinburgh.

    This position will work closely with the Legal Director where you will be responsible for ensuring that all operational arrangements are in place in order to provide a first class in-house legal service. This role will provide legal advice, analysis and execution over wide ranging investment management, client related and corporate matters.

    This position is varied and responsibilities will include:

    - Identification of legal risks as they affect the business
    - The provision of advice on legal and regulatory issues as required
    - Management and oversight of external specialist legal providers as appropriate
    - Maintenance of department systems and procedures
    - Oversight of standard documentation, clauses and the maintenance of precedent and client documentation databases
    - Project work as required and advising on legal implications for new products
    - Preparation, review and negotiation on investment management agreements
    - Providing legal advice on new client take-on
    - Assisting with general corporate / secretarial matters
    - Review and negotiate third party agreements

    In addition, this role will also assist the Legal Director with the investment trusts:

    - Assisting in the role of Company Secretary
    - Advising on FCA rules and related compliance
    - Assisting with the preparation of statutory reports and board packs
    - Liaising with company secretarial and administrative service providers
  • The Person
    - Qualified lawyer with either Scottish or English qualification
    - Ideally 7+ years PQE
    - Previous corporate / commercial experience gained within asset management
    - Experience gained with 3rd party providers would be advantageous
    - Current knowledge of Mifid II
    - Willingness to take on an extremely varied workload in order to further experience
